The floor lamp is out of the workshop and into boxes. One hundred and forty-eight centimeters, the same optics, the same one button.
Dimpsy Tall is shipping from today, in three to five business days, at $690.
It is the floor lamp: the same head, the same button and the same curve to 1,800 Kelvin as Dimpsy One, on a column 148 cm tall and a base heavy enough that it does not care about a rug. Behind a chair it lights the person sitting in it. That is what it is for.
It took nineteen months, which is about a year longer than we told people it would. Most of that was the base — a taller column wants a wider base, a wider base looks like a bollard, and getting the weight down into something 26 cm across took four castings and a change of alloy. There is no better excuse than that and we are not going to invent one.
